The NGHC facility stands out for its immense scale. It harnesses up to 4 GW of renewable power from dedicated onshore solar and wind assets. This powers electrolyzers to produce up to 600 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen daily, equivalent to avoiding millions of tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

The hydrogen is converted into 1.2 million tonnes of green ammonia per year, a stable carrier ideal for shipping. A purpose-built port berth in Oxagon facilitates exports, leveraging NEOM's strategic Red Sea location for access to major markets.

Construction has progressed rapidly, with key milestones like turbine installations and equipment deliveries achieved. Renewable sites are advancing toward mid-2026 completion, with full commissioning to follow.

NGHC CEO Wesam Alghamdi has emphasized the project's pioneering role: it is building not just a plant but the foundation of a new industry, serving as a global model for large-scale hydrogen production.
